I got a list of 40,000 emails from various places like craigslist. Is it legal to send out a blast email?

Hi, I have a list of 40,000 emails relating to a service I want to sell. Am I allowed to send out the whole list from my dedicated server? What will be the consequences if this is illegal? I know this will increase sales 100% but I just want to make sure before sending it out. Any advice will help. Thanks

In the UK & EU that would be illegal. You would be sending unsolicited mail (spam) and risk a hefty fine.

Also it is highly unlikely your ISP would allow you send to so many at once.
