Sending email to people whom you don’t know is called “spamming.” It is generally ineffective and unprofitable. Spamming can cause you to lose your email account AND your web site, as penalties for violating the “terms of service” for your email and web site hosting providers. Don’t do it. Instead, look for other, more legitmate ways to promote your web site. For example, if you have a web site about Dalmation dogs, then you might participate in online discussion forums about dogs, and mention your web site when it’s relevant to a discussion. (Each forum has its own rules, and simply posting a message promoting your site will usually be considered “forum spamming.”) Or you could buy PPC advertising through Google AdWords. There are thousands of legitimate promotion strategies; please don’t spam.

If you are not careful, you could end up in jail, because people who send unsolicited advertsising (spam) to people who are not interested in it, find that those people can become extremely hostile. For example, I am interested in buying product X. There are ways to advertise your web site, that do not annoy people.

That you may be ending up in spamming. Instead list your site on relevant forums/free classifieds/craiglist. Other way is SEO to your site. Post a comment
