Is it possible to hack into an iphone and send email using an account linked to the phone?

My friend says she did not send me an email from her account and that someone hacked through her iphone using the ip address to do it. The message said sent from her iphone (which she has) so i find it hard to believe that is possible.

It could be a virus, but I don’t think that it’s possible to “hack” an Iphone. If they were trying to sell you something, that’s your answer.

If it was socially awkward, someone was probably drunk.
