how do i send email to a japanese cellular phone?

i was told that cell phones in japan dont use sms texting that much because of the convenience of emailing facilities common in these phones. maybe you can help me send an email to a friend in japan where i only know her cellular phone number.

have her email you from her phone and then you’ll know her cell’s email for sure. (my friend did this for me too)
