What are the rules for emailing/contacting people on and internet dating site?

I have a problem with trying to figure out the rules as to when it is OK to contact some one, how often to contact them, when to ask for their phone number, etc. Is there some set of rules that I should know about?

I wouldn’t say there’s rules for contacting people, I think it’s more of a judgement call. If you feel you are contacting to often, then reduce that. is a great dating site as well.
