What does emailing back and forth means?

If someone is the only one emailing another and them are just replying but no initially contact is the same?

back and forth means one person emails another and the other replies and they just keep doing that in a cycle

If someone is emailing and not getting a reply back, it`s not called `back and forth` it would be `one way only`. Back and forth means a flow of emails from one person to another and vice versa.
